I'm on Channel 4.

There was a recent big thread about OCD and theres many on here who have it.
Its a shame that your original thread title didn't have OCD in it so that some of those sufferers could have watched it.

It would be interesting to know why you were picked and what your exact treatment was because we only saw a little bit.
We recently went through 18 months of psychotherapy treatment with one of our daughters because of a phobia of frogs so I know where you're coming from.

yeah i'd have loved to have seen it. Been a sufferer since I was a tiny child. Much better now - so you can overcome it, but I still have my moments. I don't think it ever leaves you completely. :/

Doesn't seem to be repeated on C4 either. :(

Don't take this the wrong way but why is a fear of frogs a real problem that warrants 18 months of treatment?

I really don't mean that in a harsh way, I'm geniuely interested.

it's not a fear it's a phobia. Totally different thing. If I'm correct then dmpoole's daughter will be so scared she'll be passing out/vomiting if she even thinks about a frog, never mind seeing one. That's a psychological thing and is really different to a fear, although they are often confused.

Imagine passing out if you thought of a frog. Or throwing up if you saw a cartoon of a frog. Or if you see or hear the word 'frog'. That's the kind of level you're talking about. It can seriously ruin lives.

I guess treatment would be warranted under those circumstances.

That would be an extreme case though, wouldn't it? My Dad's ex had a phobia of heights but the thought of heights didn't reduce her to a withering wreck. She simply really didn't like to be confronted with actual heights.

And thats exactly what we thought for several years until it got out of hand.

It started as a little girl and just got worse. By the time she was 16 it was a full blown phobia where even a cartoon frog would make her sick. When the King in Shrek 2 turned into a frog she vomited into the waste bin besides her and then the rest of the evening was spent comforting her. Her whole 16th birthday was ruined because her grandad innocently said "If you dislike frogs you ought to see where we went yesterday". She spent the whole of her birthday in bed with the sick bowl.
It was when she decided to become a primary school teacher that we knew she would need expert help and so began 18 months of therapy.
After the first month we had to put the word FROG on four doors in the house and after about two months of crying she said she was ready for the next phase.
I can't really remember but I think it was toy frogs around the house and after about 3 months she picked them up and arranged them in a Sylvanian Family dolls house.
And so it went on picking away until at the end of 18 months she went to a garden centre and sat on a wall in front of a pond full of frogs and actually said the word frog. Forgot to mention that during one of her meetings she said frog and this set her back a couple of months because she felt so dirty.
Its nice to report she can say the word frog on command and she can watch anything with frogs in. Its quite funny that when a frog comes on the TV the other three of us all look at her and she shouts "I'm bloody cured".
She also had a fear of flying. This would start on the morning of the flight, it would get worse and on the plane she would be shaking and crying until the plane was level. it would start again on descent.
She applied her treatment for her frog phobia and now she hasn't got a problem with flying - excellent.

Yea sure man, here are 2 pictures of what my room looks like now. Not a total mess, but a more relaxed feel.

Picture 1.

Picture 2.

It's just missing that batchelor pad look now. :p

(Apologies for the file sizes and picture quality, I haven't really learnt to optimise photographs yet.)

yea likewise pretty crazy how common this can be  , as for tips just tell yourself not to do it or get someone to really get onto you about it maybe Jack can suggest a bit more hes been fairly handy on MSN explaining stuff :D.

Thanks jonno. :)
Happy to hear about your daughter dmpoole and yea, it is a variax 300, well spotted. Do you have one? I think they are rather nice guitars, and the sounds are very realistic.
In response to your earlier query, I was picked on a mere stroke of luck as I happened to be having treatment at the hospital shown in the program when channel 4 decided to film there.
