I'm paying for 12 Meg......

Is there a way to find out how much kb/s you will get before buying internet?

I will be buying 50 meg/100 meg from virgin media when in my new house and I wanted full download speeds.

For ADSL I use our companies liine check facility which gives estimate of speed, for normal people this - http://kitz.co.uk/adsl/adslchecker.php - does the equivalent and will give a rough estimate of speed and distance from exchange.

However this doesnt apply to Virgin products (and especially not there 50/100meg packages) as they are fibre and so not susceptible to the same distance issues.

That page isn't loading.

Its not a webpage.

It looks like a router/modem config dialogue in which case your router/modem IP is different as to what the previous poster expected.

To be honest your speed is pretty much to be expected. If you restart the modem in the early hours of the morning you may get a slightly higher speed being detected.

Download speed is about right for what speed you are sync'ed at.

*sigh* try reading the thread. the parts about "upto" and circumstances beyond the ISPs control may be relevant.

if you post your router stats and it shows a sync of 8Mb but you only ever see 2Mb speeds then i guess you have a right to be a little miffed. depending on who your isp is, maybe a switch is in order?

Nothing to do with it, where I live my exchange can only provide about 2-2.5mbps.
