yes, yes i am. for a good year, ive had to put up with their lack of actual people to talk to when you have a problem (ie living breathing people, not machines...) not to mention the difficulty i had actually finding a help number!! my bill has suddenly soared from £20 to £119 because they didnt inform me that my kind of tarriff didnt exist anymore, or something like that.. my phone constantly has no signal and now my messages are not being recieved by anyone- and my boyfriend, also with o2, is also failing to recieve messages from anyone...

what on earth is going on, o2???

now, do i change company? unfortunately im not one to change easily, a pure convenience thing.. but this is really playin me about so, what other tarriffs or companies are recommended?

my contract runs out about now, i like modern phones (not flip phones!!) and need about 1000 texts and 100 mins a month... 02 is offering me that for £35, with the extra texts being a £16 bolt on, and they have sent me a new simcard.. total being £46.

a safe bet, or not? im stuck for a year if i make the wrong choice, with any company

Sounds like O2 are having a laugh. I'm sure I saw a new customer offer of £35 for 750mins and 1000 texts on O2.

As said, Orange will offer you 1000 texts if you're a student. And their customer service is brilliant - i get through to a human in under 20secs without fail, and it's free.

a real human?

could be worth it...

will a new customer o2 deal do for someone just renewing their contract, though?

They wouldn't let you have it, no. Not unless you surrender your number and sign up as a new customer. From the deal they're offering (100mins, 1000 texts for £51), they're obviously not fussed about keeping you.

If you look at any other network, they'll give you a hell of a lot more than that for £50 - and you'd get a new phone. Give them a PAC code, and you'll keep your number too.

Orange Student does sound like a good plan though.

www.orange.co.uk/student

Type in your NUS number and see what's on offer.

thanks :) whats a P... well, that code you mentioned? where can i find it?
A PAC is a Port Authorisation Code. It allows you to port your mobile number from one network to another. You ring O2 and say you want your PAC code because you're going to leave the network, and they should give you it - probably by text.

You use this code when signing up for a new contract, and shortly after you register your new phone, the number should be transferred across.

Orange will offer you 1000 texts a month if you're not a student if you take an 18 month contract at the moment too... Although as you are a student, that's the best way forward as you get other benefits too :)

Vodafone do a really good student deal, you get unlimited text and picture messages, free handset and STC about £25 a month for 125mins call them they will tell you more.

The only catch i found with the orange tariff when i was about to get it was that they dont do the old 4txts=1mms. You have to pay for any multi media content you send. I send a fair few so it wasnt for me. I was about to sign the contract when i asked about it on the off chance! The guy was quite annoyed, so close to the sale!

^^ what do you mean???

checked out their phone range too (yes size does matter... and shinyness) which isnt as extensive as others..

also look at flext. vodaphone student, orange student.

thats bout it

tmob have worst phone range but good price plans. Orange has best customer service (but they've just fired loads of support team so that may go ****) and used to have v. good reception etc (but thats gone really down hill for me & three will be using them soon too so maybe itll get overloaded). I haven't used voda in years so i can't really comment on them but they seem ok.

Hmmm after nearly 10 years with Orange I have kicked them into touch over their User Investment Class Policy. As I dont spend over my monthly alloted minutes orange have deemed me UIC1 which means as far as upgrades go I am entitled to a baked bean can and some string. The problem you ask ? I have been with Orange since they were the first GSM1800 operator in the UK and I have NEVER been offered an upgraded handset. I have purchased plenty, but orange have never offered me one and I never asked. So after nearly 10 years as a loyal customer, you would think that they would want to retain me, like hell they did - only when I requested my PAC code did the lady at disconnections offer me virtually any phone I wanted for £4 plus double minutes on my tarrif.

Well as far as I am concerned they can shove it up their ***. Not only that, as I am responsible for all our corporate phones, who I placed with Orange last year, I will now be cancelling that entire corporate account as well. So by p*ssing off 1 customer through their innept customer service attitude and crappy investment policy, they are losing several grand a month on their corporate side - well done Orange.

Your UIC reflects how much subsidy is profitable against your account. Simply being on the network does not make anyone a good customer.

Sorry if you feel a company should put customer numbers over whether those customer's actually make any money....
