3/4k to spend next month. ie: 14 days or so. you missed that part?

Ah i see, i was presuming you were talking about hes current budget, but if hes spending that amount of money:

if your getting loads of money next month, the smart thing to do would be not upgrade anything and just wait. amd''s are so far behind what intel has to offer right now that honestly only a fool would choose a current amd pc. £170 for a quad core core2? amd has nothing.

dont say we didnt warn you.

Very good advice. If you can afford to get say one of the new Intel chips (E6850), AMD dosent stand a chance against them chips. :)

although im getting that much money next month from a life saving account. (on 14th august to be exact), i dont wish to blow it all on a pc.

i have £700 to spend this month, to which i dont wish to over clock. any processor higher would put me though my budjet, i did strech the limit a lot as i only have £20 left untill i get my money.

my brother will be building up a pc soon as he gets paid, id probally sell him the processor and get the 6000+ (means changing MB). or i may even go for a full intel system. i was on a tight budjet, and i didnt want to get anything crappy just so i can pay extra for a decent intel machine. thankyou for your help, beleive me it has helped a lot and i probally will consider intel for the future. it all came to £700 including delivery, i could probally sell it on for that much (if you seen the ones that people have on ebay

Thankyou! very much guys

Why on earth did you choose AMD over Intel. *Cry* :(

Im renaming this thread to

im ready to purchase... don't post any final notes I'll dismiss any sound advice.

i don't understand you.

You come on here, ask us for the best spec and we tell you. You then make a second thread, and using this one, to tell people you are going AMD and nothing will stop you. Are you a complete fanboy or what ?

I don't mean to come across harsh or anything though... :)

Yea I'd say the fanboyism is a bit more rampant in the replies than from the original poster. You act like his PC will be complete ***** just because he is getting an AMD processor but that's just not true.

Yes, the Intel chips will overclock far better and therefore you can get lots more performance out of relatively little money, but not everyone wants to dabble in overclocking.

At stock speeds his 5600+ will be faster than the e4500/e6320 he could get at roughly the same price point therefore his decision is perfectly sound.

*Star out swearies please*

Agreed. The 5600 actually fairs against the 6420 so its great value for money. :)

Does seem a little strange to be buying , then re-buying a month later.
Surely if nothing else its just a waste of p&p ? (selling p&p, 2x buying p&p)

Although ive got to say, if your not planning on overcocking AMD seem to be great value, but when people are managing to overclock e2140's to speeds around 3ghz easily, it just seems illogical to buy a processor that costs more, and has less potential.

Not if your keeping your entire system at stock.

Sorry, i was meaning to give that message accross too, if your going for 100% stock, theres no reason to not choose AMD, and for lower budgets, even a few advantages.

i find it abit strange he clearly says he dont want to switch to intel then you all hound him to swap.

well hey, he has no reason not to and we wouldnt be the same if we didnt suggest the best solution for him. that's what we're good at, after all.
