well im just fed up with it... i biought it when i was a PC n00bert ... somehting like "WOW water cooling £50 !!!! UV GREEN". and now its just a big regret.
specialy when i build a system for my btoyher using an AC freezer 7 pro and saw the temperatures :o !!

so yea guys if your tyhinking about getting a thermal take Big Water kit... think again, keep it quiet and dont tell anyone you thought about it !!

im checking the MM every other day now as im plnning on getting an AC F7Pro and just building a WC kit piece by piece to save me spending too much in one go.

what would you guys say is the most vital component out of Rad, Block or pump ?

I don't get you... they're all pretty damn vital. If you mean which one I'd save... then I'd save the rad as they're just cool.

Typo... sorry
what would u guys SAY is the most vital component... i mean which is the most important for cooling and is due the biggest part of my budget.
i know theyre all as important as eachother but theres got t be one which has a bigger effect at cooling... im thinking the block... but i may be wrong ?

Pump. You can have all the specs in the world but if the pump is pants, it's a non-starter. Even with a pants block, as long as the pump is chugging away nicely, it will be ok.

AquaExtreme 50z - costs about £55 - can be picked up MM or elsewhere cheaper though (£30-35ish). Best all rounder pump without buying an Iwaki.

Yeah try to get a low flow restriction block and an ace pump. My single rad has trouble with my Amber though (although I have to turn the amber down to 50% to stop it buzzin' I think I screwed itin too hard :()

i beg you not to search for pics of the pump that ive got now !!
its erm... pathetic !!

im thinking about spending about 90 -100 for the system.
but that MAY increase depending how far appart i buy the pieces. but its more than likely going to be around that price.

im i aiming to get most of it 1/2" ID or is that over kill ?

can you gove me more info on the AquaExtreme 50z
ive googled itwith not much luck.
who makes it? model numbers etc ?
cheers
Rick

I've heard mixed stories about 1/2" tubing. Some say it's better, some say it's the same. I'd just get it as it definitely wont be worse.

okay :)
just really hard to judge by the pictures that will acctually fit onto the components 1/2" looks tiny on the components but in RL its acctually quite big.
i ahve a gigabyte 3D aurora so theres no issues with spcae.
i ahve a 5.25" bay res... whcih is nto suitibel for 1/2" pipes, so what do 'high end' WC rigs use as a res ? or do they not ?

btw found the pump
swiftech MCP600
didnt realise it was a swiftech one !
looks nice :)

Don't need a res, but I have one just cuz I can. BTW with the aurora be careful with a RAD on *** back. To fit mine externally to the chassis I had to file away the metal end of the side panel (If you use a radbox you'll be fine, just direct fixing is difficult).

AquaExtreme 50z pump:

Manufacturer: AquaExtreme
Model: 50z

:p :D :p

1/2" is perfect as the pump is a 1/2" pump. I have one and it's great. I have a full 1/2" setup. If you need to upgrade the rad on a budget, get a single or dual heatercore. Very efficient (better than normal rads, except perhaps the PA160) and very cheap - £25-30 for a single -dual.

You don't need a res as such, if tight, use a T barb for a fill port. And it has to be the Swiftech MCP600v2 - v1 was not the AQ50z.

I just picked up a 50Z and man is it quiet compared to the D4 i had :)

The pump goes by

AquaXtreme AQ50Z
Swiftech MCP600

Rad can be skimped upon most easily IMO - XSPC etc, yes, theyre not as good, but it is just a simple principal after all

Alphacool NexXos XP CPU blocks go fairly cheap new, and theyre great performers ;)

yea i know,. ive got a rad on the back of my aurora and ive just put some washers between the rad and the back... the case side fits nicly into the little gap. but filing aint a problem.

okay... ive been looking round the web for tubing, but im seeing a lot of 1/2'' tubing which turns out to be 1/2'' outer diametre... not inner.
when refering to 1/2'' bloack and rads, barbs etc im after 1/2'' ID tubes yea ?

Yes 1/2" ID for everything. 3/8" ID = 1/2" OD. Took me a while to work that out on me own.

would be deffo a twin rad. ive got the space for it on my case and ... well it just looks cool lol.
cant find that pump many plaves except one and as someone stated itys 55 quid... maybe able to find one second hand, but i think ive got a better chance of finding a Swiftech MCP655 second hand.

and as for waterblockes... these 3 barb things are meant to be the nuts for cooling, but is it just a gimick ?
i had my eye on the MCW6002-775 or the Apogee extreme universal.

money is burning a hole in my piocket now !
still im gonna try and buy it piece by piece week by week then it doesnt feel like im buying much :)

I have to say, the AQ50z is a very worthwhile investment if you can pick one up. Buy it last so it gives you a chance to source one. On the block front - 3 barbs are pointless gimmicks IMO. I use a Swiftech MCW6002 two barb keeping the X2 in my sig at 41C dual prime loaded (see sig for w/c setup). Of course when gaming this goes up to 45C dual loaded but that is because the gfx dumps a lot of heat. ;).

Swiftech Storm CPU block - amazing block but if you can't stretch to it, what about the AquaXtreme MP-05 PRO Limited Edition - I think it is a copy of the Storm for about £14 cheaper (£38 instead of £52).

If still going down, then it would be the Apogee and then 6002. The apogee is like an upgraded 6002.

good thinking about getting the pump last !
yea i thought the 3 barbs looked a bit OTT.
again im a sucker for looks and im swaying towards the 6002

spec is in sig, at the moment with unbearable noise ive got 47C at idle, but it goes up to about 58-60C under load. but iv i turn the rad down it will goto about 50C
thats a 9 series pentium D ( cooler than thew 8 series) although my brothers 8 series idles at 37 and loads about 45 ( I THINK) on air !

so far ive go my eye on

1/2'' system:
Swiftech dual rad £30
swiftech 6002 water block £30
aqua extreme 50z ( if i can get one) £40
swift mini res £12
tubing £10 ?

total guess prices but im gonna try and get as much off the MM. or 2nd hand soemwhere else.
dont need any fans.
*bed time for Rick* ill have another look in the morning
thanks for all the help guys !!
Rick

I've got a very similar system:

Aquaextreme 50z (great pump as others have said)
Swiftech 2x120mm rad off OcUK (a bargain for £20 when they were first in)
DD LRWW block
Didn't bother with a res, just used a T-line, its simpler.
Tygon 1/2" tubing
2x120mm Xinruilian Fans (dirt cheap but actually very good)

Its a fantastic system and cost me just under £100, you need to buy barbs for the Swiftech Rad if you're getting it off OcUK though, mine didn't come with them.

The Swiftech 6002 is a nice block and should be great :)

looks good although im not keane on the swiftech radiators... but ive heard there perform ok... have you thought about a D5 pump they are very good... £10's worth of tubing will get you just over 6ft of tygon hose so measure twice cut ones :)
