Right I am getting virgin broadband in the next couple of days need some advice.

The access point for my broadband is on the groundfloor front room of my house. My computer is in my room upstairs so I need a wireless connection as I can't get cable access.

Anyone have any ideas what would be the best setup because I haven't a clue!!!

you need a wireless router that is suitable for a cable connection. ocuk have a huge range here, if your only doing internet based stuff then just get a 'g' one, if you want to stuff on the lan too then you may want to look at an 'n' one.

nope.

the router connects to your incoming feed from virgin, this manages the internet connectivity for you and provides the ability for multiple devices to connect.

for your pc you then need a wireless network adaptor. i would probably recommend getting the adaptor from the same vendor as the router to ensure compatibility.

not a gamer, so will mainly be using for surfing the net and downloading really. thinking of getting the 2mb broadband £10/month connection.
