Collie's aren't really good dogs. They are prone to attacking people.

Mongrels = healthy, happy dogs.

Never once known any Collie to attack, or be aggressive, or know anyone who has experienced the same. Dogs aren't inherently violent, it's the way that they are brought up and their owners.
Pugs are inherently ugly though. ;)

I'm not making it up, Border Collies are not the safest dogs to have as pets.

That's a load of rubbish though. The temperament of a dog will depend on how it has been brought up and trained. A Collie is as violent as a Dachshund, which is as violent as a German Shepherd, which is as violent as a Shih Tzu.

Do some searching. Here's a table I found, and I don't believe the site has any reason to mislead.

All dogs need training though, and a dog with little to no training isn't going to know how to act properly and will snap at people and bite them. In my experience I have found small dogs to be particularly violent because they haven't had the training to do anything but. Plus, a lot of the times I've seen owners unwilling to punish their dogs for doing and even think it is endearing. They seem to think that a little small dog snapping, and biting at peoples heels is cute and fine behaviour. Generally they are like the spoilt brat who is violent, disrespectful and boisterous but their parents don't see it and thus do nothing to change it.
Larger, more 'classicly' violent dogs (such as German Shepherds) will be trained much more because the damage they can cause when they go violent is much greater to that of a toy and that skews the figures more so.
For the most part, you can't suggest this dog is violent and that isn't as there'll be a notable number of specimens that go against this thinking because they've been trained well.
I'd argue that the violent Collies are no doubt ex working dogs who have got to old to be used and have been passed onto a new home and haven't been trained appropriately (often because it's impossible).

All dogs aren't born equal, different breeds have different propensities. Otherwise there'd be no working dog breeds.

See what I mean now? Yes any dog can be a good dog or a bad dog, but collies aren't ideal.

Yes, dogs have different personalities but it is entirely possible to train a lot of that.
No dog is ideal, because it's impossible. You can use whatever figures you want and if you think you can find the safest dog it can still turn around and attack someone one day much like a dog seen as violent can never have a turn in its entire life.
Collies are not prone to attacking people though, if they were then they'd be banned. Nor are they bad dogs.

I feel we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I love Collies and have never encountered one with a bad or violent mentality. I've seen a MUCH larger number of small dogs with a bad/violent mentality though.

Pugs are not cool, did you guys see that article that the beeb did a few years ago on deformed dogs, the pug has been inbred so much that they struggle to breath, and quite honestly one look at a pug dog should tell you that it doesn't look quite right.

I've read some dog posts in this forum where pug owners thing they are the muts nuts, please pug owners, let me squash your nose flat, I'll do it for free.

Yes, your right about pugs can having bouts of breathlessness, though I'd imagine most dog owners prefer their pooch to a number of other breeds since that is the one they chose.

Pugs and staffs are ugly dogs. Pugs more so than staffs. Get a proper dog like a collie or a lab. However, if odd dogs are your thing, you can always go for a shihtzu or something.
