Im usually so jealous of lottery winners...

My boss knows the wife of the couple that won - more of an acquaintance than a friend - and reckons that she's a really nice lady.

Good luck to the both of them, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous but hope they spend it well and enjoy themselves.

Bad move going public

If I remember correctly if you look at the small print on the back of the lotto ticket it says that part of the agreement when you buy the ticket is to appear in the media if you win a massive amount. I could be mistaken but I swear I remember something like that!

Yes good win, for once not some idiot in prison etc.

But as previously suggested their kids had to be pulled out of school by the police after the parents received death threats against them if they didn't hand over money.

Great one going public !!

We were arguing about this at work (about going public, not lynching them :D)
Boss was saying it would be better to get it over and done with because the press would hunt you down anyway and make an even bigger fuss over it.

I on the other hand was going to grab the money and RUN !! Without telling a soul.
Emigrate, start a new life, then phone some close friends / family and give them some of it.

The retards sending them death threats make even Piccard want to not waste time with a facepalm. Logically how do they expect to get money if the winners are dead?

But that's beside the point :p

You wouldn't even tell a fish?

:p

Amazing that they went public after winning that amount. You wouldn't see me for skid marks if i won anywhere near that.

Good on them I say - I really hope they enjoy all of that money!

I do agree about going public being a mistake though, I know if I won that kind of money I would not go public simply because of the consiquences that could follow.

I heard that they gave the house & the cars away to their cleaner if I am right??

the lottery winners have bought a £4m, six-bedroom 'eco-palace' in the Gloucestershire village of Barnsley, according to The Daily Telegraph.

Just why!? There is zero need to spend four million pounds on a house, that is a waste and if I won that kind of money I would never buy a stupidly expensive house or even a stupidly expensive car. Do something great with the cash, in all seriousness was there actually anything wrong with their old £400k house, probably not. T****.

Bit of rant, apologies.

That £4 million will soon get replaced with interest, so what if they bought it, so what difference does it make to you?

Just seems pointless :( They surely don't need six bedrooms etc.

 but maybe they WANT 6 bedrooms? How is it pointless to have a nice house?

They might not need a new car, their old white van might be in perfect condition, but would you honestly slate them if they went out and spent £20k on a new Mondeo?

They have 3 kids and themselves, so that's 4 bedrooms taken care of. The other two could easily be guest bedrooms for friends and family who come and stay over. I know if I won the lottery I'd buy a big house as well. Not only would it be lovely to live in, but if you keep the house for long enough it will surely make it a nice investment over 10-20 years as prices rise in the future.

i would have thought their future home would be the most important thing they would be spending money on.

Plus it's an eco house so will be busting with energy saving technology, of course it costs a bit but at least they're making good from it.

Like that other UK millionaire who's house isn't connected to the power grid as it generates its own electricity and fuels itself through recycling etc.

Seems some people in this thread are too stingy with money....or too jealous of the winners.
