Hello guys, i will go to US and i want to buy an Imac.

So how can i bring it here without to pay at the airport at the custom office?

I know if i would buy a laptop things will be different...

What is the procedure because i didn't trevel over Atlantic before!!

Thanks

I don't think you would be able to get away with this very easily. Can you even take the box on the plane as hand luggage? I would have though it would be too big and it would weigh too much. There is no way I would put it in the standard baggage.

After taxes in the US, import duty and stress, it probably won't be worth it.

That's illegal, can't discuss it here sorry.

There's no way I think you could get one of those on the plane with you. It would have to go in a well packaged box, or large stuffed suitcase in the hold. If it's still in it's brand new packaging, it's glaringly obvious you purchased it.

If you don't declare it when going through customs, you will obviously be stung and charged if they stop to check you.

I have a 21.5" model, and even the box for that was enormous. You'd need a massive suitcase, and I imagine word would get out once they x-rayed it.

If you throw away the packaging surely they can't tell if you purchased whilst on holiday or brought it over with you?

I'm totally ignorant about this though!

Wow Im even amazed he had to ask - love to hear the excuse when it gets x-rayed about why he uses a desktop abroad and not a laptop...

Probably the easiest way would be to stick it in a condom tie a knot in it and swallow it, ready to get it back again on the other side!

Erm bringing an iMac back is a tad large to hide!

Also, would it be covered under warranty here? I know the Apple Laptops are but IIRC the wording is something along the lines of 'If the device can be powered without a cord then it is classed as portable and the warranty is international'.

Think Apple always reserve the right not to service products bought outside the service country/region - I know people had issues with US iPads when they were being imported here...
