Hi,
Just about to order a 1GB memory module but there seems to be 2 options.

DDR2 PC2-4200 • CL=4 • UNBUFFERED • NON-ECC • DDR2-533 • 1.8V • 128Meg x 64

DDR2 PC2-5300 • CL=5 • UNBUFFERED • NON-ECC • DDR2-667 • 1.8V • 128Meg x 64

Anyone know which one I should order?

i thought you just bought a new imac... why didnt you upgrade the ram with the supplier??

Havn't got the iMAC yet and there isn't an option to upgrade from them.

I was trying to get the ram in advance. I think the standard 512 ram is soldered to the main board which would make it difficult to find out the spec.
 
I can confirm it's definately DDR2-4200 (posting from a 2.1 iMac G5 w/ iSight now) :)

Well ended getting the 1Gig extra fitted and it was 533.

Picked the G5 2.1 up yesterday and got it home powered it up and "unexpected error occured all over the place". :( On top of that I noticed with the unit turned off but connected to the mains there was a high pitched noise coming out of the back of the iMAC which went away when the unit was turned on. So psu and memory issue.

Not too impressed with my first play with a iMAC G5. Its been picked up today and I should get a replacement for the latest monday. The only good thing is that I payed £1100 for the iMAC G5 2.1 20" + 1 Gig of ram+ 3 year applecare + iLIfe 06.

Never stright forward. In between the crashing it did look good though :)
 
I only paid that and I bought it direct from Apple ;)


...even got the same setup, although I chose to buy and fit extra memory myself

Did you get the VAT off though ;)

Ram wise there is 1.5 gigs in total

Student discount + a bit extra (secret) ;)

I got my memory from the manufacturers website itself... much cheaper than apple, and it's the exact same as what they use!!

Question with regard to iLife 06. Should this come in a seperate package or is it on the install disk with the G5? I was expecting a extra boxed disk. 05 is installed on the iMAC.
