iMac hangs - hardware or software?

Well it comes as no surprise that Apple are servicing mid 2012- early 2013 RMBPs (which mine is) free due to graphics issues and 'unexpected reboots'. I wish I'd known that before. Maybe they can fix the damn image retention and all the creaks and the fact that the insides seem to shift just a bit when you pick it up too.
