iMac memory increase

I've got a late 2009 27" iMac and want to put some more memory in it. Currently got 2x2gb sticks.

Firstly, will this fit? http://http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-032-OK&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1264

If so, am I okay to get 2 4gb sticks to run with the current 2x2gb ones?

Spec-wise it should be okay. The iMac will simply run the memory at slower speeds to cater.

At that price they're worth a try, if they don't work for some strange reason (Macs can sometimes be a bit funny with memory), send them back and pick something that is guaranteed to be compatible (and a lot more expensive).

As far as I know the iMac only has 4 slots, so you couldn't install all 6 sticks. You could run 2x2 plus 2x1 for 6gb in total, but nothing more with those sticks. Providing you have 2 sets of pairs you shouldn't see any slow down - it'll still run dual channel.

This is a good point, I didn't notice the "run with" part, thought you were just replacing the old stuff!
