iMac Noise?

I am thinking about buying an iMac to replace my gaming PC in the sitting room. How much noise do they make? Ideally, I'd like it to be silent if possible, but I guess it must have internal fans or whatever.

They do make a little noise but are almost silent. You can lessen the level by removing any vibration on the surface on which it's sitting. I found it made a big difference when I added some heavy foam insulation between the foot and my desk.

Cant hear mine at all unless im sat at it. From the bed its completely silent.

Well not quite but even when I hammer mine rendering in Final Cut Studio I can't hear it unless I put my head round the back.

Gaming on an iMac may not be the best solution!

Unless you are loading it at 100% for a few minutes it makes pretty much no noise, and even then it's about as lous as a quiet cdrom drive spinning up. Gaming on the imac is pretty damn acceptable and very useable. I wouldn't buy one FOR gaming, but the fact it can, and do it pretty well is kinda sweet.

I'm talking of the 27" i7 with 8GB. The screen is phenomenal.

they only spin the fans up when it gets hot in summer.

Now for example, the room is a very comfortable 21 on the thermostat and the fans are silent.
