iMac to Mac Pro

Hi guys I'm selling my imac due to converting my office in house to a nursery for the new addition. So I'm buying a Mac Pro instead. I know there is limited space in a Mac Pro so is it possible to run iTunes and apperture via an external HD?

It is possible and both are very easy to do. For everything else there's always symlinks.

UI elements are the same physical size as a standard panel but better defined as they are double the DPI (HiDPI in Apple speak). Media and content can use the full resolution of the panel in HiDPI aware applications.

Personally, go for the retina if you can afford it, much nicer machine than the inevitably obsolete design of the current MacBook Pro line. The screen is fantastic, as is the form factor, just make sure you buy the spec you want/need.

I picked up a rMBP as a secondary machine a few months back, love it.

The "classic" MacBook Pro is far from obsolete. You can upgrade the memory and storage easily and use Gigabit Ethernet and Firewire devices, non of which are available on the slightly thinner retina as standard.

Worth noting it is possible to increase the resolution, and it looks alright. So you aren't stuck at an "actual" resolution of 1440*900.
