Now I can do it but it looks really jagged and not fit to use on a website, does anyone have any tips on how to achieve a smooth edge and transparent background?
on photoshop use pen tool, and ten zoom in and outline what you wana cut and once you finished the shape use magic wand tool on the shape you made and you can cut it or delete or what ever
If you have a decent mouse, just zoom in to about 800-1000% and use 10-16px eraser to cut it out. I know it sounds archaic, but its really the best way - and doesn't take nearly as long as it sounds!
Some useful hotkeys:
[ = decrease brush size
] = increase brush size
e = erase
alt+scrollwheel = zoom in/out
Edit: Looks like you've done it already. Good job; just clean it up with eraser as you said
BTW you missed a bit in the middle.
Yeah I usually use eraser. My hand is killing after the above cut, so I'm just going to try and tidy up the visible white bits as best I can. Don't think I have it in me to do another full cut
Just using this to test now I've tried to tidy up the edges with the eraser:
What you reckon? I think it looks a bit jagged around the black bit at the back, but meh. By the time I've used it for its purpose and banged an outer glow or something on it you'll hardly be able to tell anyway
