Hi all,

Just wondering what you tend to do to your pics to make them look better overall?

I see a lot of you use a bored which seems to make a nice difference.

The missus did this:

from this:

not bad for a girl :p

Really quite like that. The makeup, clothing etc is good, the lighting however could do with being improved a tad. You seem to be getting a slight shadow behind her. Hope you don't mind, heres my take on the pp process;

Edit; Hmm, maybe a bit too green.

Thanks. It was just a pic my other half took in her mums bathroom. Cameras just a Fuji Finepix F10. As you can see from the original, the flash didnt help much!

She's trying to get a portfolio for her make up, so just did this messing around. I think it came out well

I think what Messiah Khan did works best, the first image looks very overexposed.
Sorry Im a noob. What does overexposed mean? As you can see from the original, its very different!

It basically means its too bright. You've pushed the highlights too far resulting in detail being lost in the cheek and nose.

Yeah I think its a bit bright too. I do like the way it came out though. I just loaded it in to picasa and she had a play around. I was quite impressed!

Here's the original if anyone thinks they can improve it. Would be appreciated. As said it needs to show off the make-up if poss.

feel free to have a watermark at the bottom as it will be on her onemodelplace.com profile :)

One criticism I would put on messiah khan's version is that the colours are too warm. If she is wearing cold weather clothing perhaps she should not look so summery!

If it is for a portfolio you should probably keep the colours quite close to real life if people want to buy the make-up.

EDIT: I thought I'd have a play! (not really taking my advice...).
What I did in Lightroom: Max contrast, vignetting, clarity. Some blacks added, some recovery. And a crop so two of the thirds point were on her eyes. Not sure if this works because the photo is a little unbalanced now...

Vintage geeks wins for me, closesly followed by the original. While all the others are "fixed" in terms of the overexposure, I feel that they lose the atmosphere of the photo. Give your missus a pat on the back, she did an excellent job imo.
