Image/mini-image legality?

Are images/mini-images of a game legal, providing you own a legit copy of the game in question?

Before the FAQ warriors arrive, I've read it, but it doesn't explicitly prohibit the discussion of images. If this is taboo, then delete/lock away!

Its one of those questions to which there is no answer other than that of the person you are talking to.
AFAIK, the EU directive in question bans the use of technological measures to circumvent copy protection, but doesn't specify these. As no test case (To my knowledge anyway) has been brought, there is currently no definition of what is and what is not a technological measure.
Additionally, these should be prohibitied in the EULA, but again these are stuff that wouldn't stand up in court.

I would imagine it's illegal, but no-one really cares as long as you aren't downloading games from BitTorrent or whatever and then using a mini-Image to bypass the protection.

If it's regarded as illegal for me to make mini images of my own games so that i don't have to mess around with 100000s of DVDs/CDs whenever I want to do something then..... :confused:

Applying no-cd cracks and all that malarky isn't what I'm talking about - I can see how modifying the game executables could be seen as illegal.

It's an odd thing, it mentions in the warrenty for "Oblivion" that all backups must be destroyed if you sell the game, which would leave the impression that it is fine to do so, however, I do believe it's illegal in the UK too!
