Is it still the case that radeon cards provide higher image quality? I haven't found any comparisons between the 2900xt and 8800 series.

Certainly sharper on the NVidia cards this time I think

There is a slight difference in sharpness but as shown in the VRZone link you have to zoom in to really see it, thank god both companies now provide nearly angle independant anisotropic filtering compared to previous generations.

Anti-aliasing is slightly better on the HD2900XT though but again the difference is very small and is only visible when zoomed in.

Personally I didn't notice an image quality difference going from a 7900gt (7series allegedly having bad quality) to my 8800gts

My 6600 has crap af. On bf2 the chain linked fence just dissapear once i go past a certain angle.

Do you have the image quality slider in the control panel set to quality? I was surprised how much difference this made (most notably in stalker). I use a 6600 also.

I noticed a nice jump in IQ going from a 7900GTX to a HD2900XT.

Really, I noticed much better AF going from a 7800GT to a 8800GTS (and running at 8xCSAA or 16xCSAA vs 4xMSAA on the 7800GT helped a lot)

Mine was on performance. I've just turn it to high quality ill see what it does now.

Wow it was better but fps sucked before i had 40fps average now i had 10-15.
So i setted it to quality average 20-25fps not good enough. I now have at performance and its average is 35-40fps which is good enough for me.

i went from a 7800GTX to a HD2900XT

and i was oblivion last night, not actually playing the game, just walking around admiring the scenery lol.

8x antialising and 16x af, and still more than 40fps even when your looking at a lot of trees and grass etc.

and i have a 200% vedgetation mod so theres pretty much double tress and grass etc, looks a lot better
