Images in HTML Email Signature – https?

Hi Guys,

Someone sent me an email to my Gmail account, with nice pretty HTML signature and correctly the logo image in their signature set to refer the image from their website (rather than attaching it to the email). Their image was http://www.website.com/images/logo.jpg and as I was connected securely to https://mail.google.com when I opened their email IE came up with the “Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?” box.

Now this has made me think, they’re doing exactly how I have mine setup and how I’ve set other people up. Image referred to from http://www.website.com/images/logo.jpg and I guess most people viewing the email via webmail client will be connected securely (as I was) so they’ll be getting this IE warning too.

Should I change my signature html to images being referred to as https://www.website.com/images/logo.jpg? How do you guys have yours setup?

Images in emails = bleurgh.

Html in emails = double bleurgh.

I think a small logo in a signature works well.. although we don't use them.

I don't think it makes much of a difference though. The best thing you can do is try using a https image. I just did it but I'm on Firefox, and didnt test a non-https one.. it loaded straight in, with no "show images" button.
