In my Brain...
Some of my favourite images I've taken across 2014.

I've tired to develop my processing skills so any advice on over-processing or what worked well would be appreciated.

I'm more of a landscape and wildlife guy but a couple of comments on the portraits first...

Image 2 and 6 both look like you haven't got the white and black levels correct. That may be what you're aiming for but to me they look very flat. I'd say with 6 you need to up the whites a lot to get the white scarf reasonably white.

Really like no.'s 8,9 and 10, although with 10 I wonder if a play with the white balance (or selective white balance) may be in order. This could be the style you're going for but to my eyes the whites look a little yellow.

Round 2/3.

Image 2 I was trying to go for a flat faded look to go with the bricks which had white marks on and I'm not skilled enough yet to clone them out, I'll have a play with the white and black levels and see what variants come out.

After a second look I kinda agree with 6 I was trying to go for a toned effect but after comparing it with 5 the scarf is definitely off a bit :)

Cheers, with 10 I was trying to go for the film effect as I've printed it and used the printers colour profiles it might look a bit off, but the print came out ok and the whites look white :)

A quick summary of my options.
1-7 too dark and too flat. I just don't like the processing, my personally option but it just doesn't work. You get bonus points for 45 degree composition, you loose them all by having way too many 45deg photos and you loose more points with the angle flipping, sorry. Good try!

Subjects have great potential, the stuff is different which I like but it doesn't work for me. Maybe others find it hits their intrigue.

8) subject does nothing for me. Processing is better but u just dint get it.

9) would make a great cover for a car mag or computer game. Processing works well. I don't think the subject is super exciting but it works.

10) a classic, it works well, processing is fine, not much to say really.

11) you got me. This is the pick up the bunch, I find it very intriguing, I'm struggling to understand it fully and I love the composition. However again the pressing lets it down IMO, too flat.. Heaps of potential.

12) nope, too flat, too nosy, too boring, doesn't work for me.

13)I think again processing had let this down. Some thing close to normal, and color, would have worked really well so I find it disappointing. No reall need for BW.

14) without the context this photo would be lost entirely (assuming that is a cable on the GG bridge, otherwise I'm really lost). With the context I almost get but just too abstract for me. As a GG focused Set It might work otherwise I think you need to let SF skyline come in to play.

15) the processing works well to give it a WW2 feel.

16) I think this also works well and is my 2nd favour ties. Point Rey's if I am not mistaken. Lighting and processing work well in unison.

17) not quite there. I found highway 1 very tough to photograph actually.

I think the flat look works significantly better with 2 than 6. It would be interesting to see the difference between the original of 6 and any new process you do to it. :)
