Images of items I have purchased (except trainers [no feet pics])

If this keeps up we can demand our own sub forum :D

Grats on the purchase :D - gonna stream?

Yes I have a few ideas for a podcast I fancied giving a try (it seems everyone does now). I also spend most of my work day in online meetings and some of the evening playing games with my son so on discord chat a lot.

I initially started out trying to improve my online meetings with a simple USB mic. But the room I am in has very poor accoustics and I quickly found a USB condensor mic wasn't really working. So I thought I'd try a supercardioid dynamic mic for the slightly improved noise rejection (and the discount i got on the mic helped too). If the mic turns out not to be what I need then XLR means I can always swap it out.

EDIT: I just tried a quick test and it sounds lovely; really smooth even in a poor room as long as I keep the gain down (still needs a lot due to it being a dynamic). The stand I got (a desk stand rather than a boom) is a little larger than I expected so I'm not sure on that yet. I also need to get a pop filter. But when recording to Audacity it really is quite a step up from the other solutions I've tried.

Didn't know that. Thanks.

One of my goals for this year is to master the full Planche but in order to do that I need to increase wrist + forearm strength and add some size too.
Doing plenty of bodyweight resistance stuff to help this but bought these hand grips to use at any moment throughout the day. Up to 50KG of resistance per hand doing 3 sets of 12 each time for hypertrophy. So far though 50KG is a bit much so the dial is turned down to about 35KG. For the £11 they cost, there is lots of room for progressive overload before these become easy.

Can recommend!

Where did you get these from and what is the make please? Was looking for something like this when I was deadlifting and trying to improve grip strength but never bought any.

Had to Google what a planche is and now I'm impressed if you can do one of those! I wanted to practice the flagpole because i thought it looked cool, tried to see where I was at in the strength level and realised I've got no chance so stuck to my normal exercises!

How much does the Solo retail for?

I'd argue, if you can stretch your budget, everyone should go for the MOTU M2. It trashes the Focusrite stuff beyond belief in every single way.

the Solo is about half the price of the Motu M2. It’s not really the same price bracket. The M2 is against the next Focusrite offering which is the 2i1 or 4i4.

I personally would get the Motu M4 when I get round to it.

How noisy is this to use? Had a far more basic device years ago, and no matter what I did to the spring it sounded like a creaking floorboard...a loud one, thus not great for doing infront of e.g. the telly.

Aye, fair enough. I don't need the extra inputs on the M4 and I prefer the larger display (due to lack of extra inputs on said display) on the M2 so that's my preference.

What he said! I got the 1x pair version as I can work both arms at the same time.

As for the planche, it is insanely difficult for many, many people take years to get to the stage of being able to hold a planche for just a few seconds, whilst others have done it in under a year. All down to the individual body and how the progressions have been done to lead up to that stage. My core is very strong but my straight arm strength is lacking hence doing all this to get the foundation stable before moving on. Arms and shoulders for me is where I'm focusing for a few months.

Human flag is a super advanced move and shows how well your entire body of muscle groups work together. You will never be able to attempt one if you've never done done the smaller progressions first though! Dragon Flags are a way to quickly get to human flag, but dragon flags are an advanced move with their own smaller progressions.

You can see where I'm getting at here now, everything that looks cool and easy on video has its foundation modes that need to be mastered first before moving up to the next progression. I find it much more involving and fun than a gym and you end up with many real world benefits that carry over into daily life whilst being cool party tricks too :p

The only noise is the counter clicking if you fully close the grip. No spring noise at all with this type of design as the spring coils make no contact when extending unlike the basic ones which rub against each other!

Fantastic! I am glad people are saying yes and putting the time in and giving this stuff a try. Its all sorts of fun :)

Would appreciate a link to your podcast when its done :)

Slightly different approach to microphones for me :D

Modded my trusty DT770 to have a 3.5mm socket instead of a fixed wire, and have added a VModa BoomPro. B-stock creative soundblasterX g6 finishes it off nicely :) NOw realise that BeyerDynamic have started to sell their own take on this microphone, so slightly annoyed i didn't notice that first, but this was 20 quid cheaper and still sounds rather good!

Slowly getting there. Picking up more furniture this weekend and also got canvases for the back wall on order. Also will buy an actual light for the ceiling and put the hue colour bulbs in there as well. I can move the lamps back to the living room then.

Also got a desk extension and ring light on order. Need to sort out some kind of blind for the window to help absorb echo as well.

Slowly slowly :)

The solo can be had for around £90.

I think the Motu is a competitor for the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 which is twice that price.

The Scarlett stuff have really poor headphone outputs though, don't they? That's what put me off them, the Motu appears to have something that is actually competitive with a proper DAC / headphone amplifier (which is needed given they're meant to be all in one audio interfaces!)

Probably true. But I don't need ultimate quality. I almost went with a normal USB mic so this entry lkevel XLR system is a step up. Spending a lot more would have meant I would just have stayed with the USB mic instead.
