The large pane of glass is a sealed, double glazed unit. It was chosen for its aesthetics and to let in natural light. As with most houses we also have a similar arrangement with a number of things called windows.
If someone wants to break in they will break in regardless of what door, window, alarm system, dog or goose you have on your property. We are also lucky to live in a low crime rate area. I know some people aren't so lucky but It's certainly not a big enough consideration to stop me buying the door and "look" I want

You have the same doors as we do
We had those doors in our last house when we refurb'd it in 2012, they are very popular, we used to see them on the TV all the time on those "homes" shows.
Looks great, do you have any plans for the space under the stairs?

I've got the base spec M1 and it performs really well, but I do need more than 8GB it seems. Have a 16GB on order and will return this when that arrives.
I may add an LG 5K next year.
I agree, I may end up getting a refreshed iMac because the cost of that vs a LG 5K makes more sense.
Switching between apps when I have a fair amount open (mail, 4-5 safari tabs, teams, Spotify, 2-3 excel spreadsheets, WhatsApp, finder) you notice some delay/pop-in when those apps and their content is pulled from swap back into memory. This can also cause animations (swiping between full screen apps) to be a little jerky. The pop in can also be a bit jarring.
The system although it has 8GB RAM, seems to leave 1-1.5GB free at all times, I guess it would be for GPU VRAM.

Yea that's the dedicated app (emulated currently), probably using high memory due to the high res photos I shared on there earlier.
