I have a corsair k95 and am thinking of getting the G915. Would be interested in your thoughts on it as a comparisons please?
No problem.
I've always liked chiclet/low profile keyboards, I was using a Logitech K360 for a long time before getting the K70 (I still use the K360 on my media centre), it feels very cheap after using the K70 for a long time but thats to be expected from a membrane keyboard, I still like the low profile, however the mechanical feel of K70 feels nice to type on so I got used to the high keycaps. Since then I have tried loads of low profile keyboards and always went back to my trusty K70 as the mechanical keys just "feel" better to type on.
The G915 has been on my buy list since it was announced, its everything I wanted in a keyboard, low profile, mechanical, amazing battery life (with a very bright backlight), wireless with no latency, tkl, solid metal construction (its much heavier than I expected)
In terms of feel, it feels like my brown K70 just with a lower travel time (I have the tactile version) with the added benefit of having a low profile design something I love. Types well and functions as you would expect.
I much prefer it over my K70 with the big chunky wires, received it on Thursday and been using it since with no complaints and was able to type correctly after a very short adjustment due to the low profile keys. Its currently on 70% battery (using it 12h+ each day on the lowest brightness).
After using the K70 wrist rest all the time for 5+ years I've gotten used to having a wrist rest. For typing its fine as my hands naturally "hover" over the keyboard while typing so a wrist rest isn't required but when playing games, yeah I missed having one for my left hand to rest on. There isn't many options for wrist rests though for a low profile. You have 3 options as far as I can see to match the low profile.
1. Logitech MX Palm rest (too long unless you get the non-tkl version of the G915)
2. Glorious PC Gaming Race Slim (13mm)
3. kalibri wooden wrist rest 10mm (the one I settled on)
Its terms of cons:
The secondary characters don't have illumination, which may or may not be an issue for some, not an issue for me as I don't look at the keyboard to type and the characters are still visible just they are grey.
The software is hot garbage which is a common complaint about Logitech but I got it set the way I like and dont intend on using it often.
Micro-USB. Sigh Logitech, just why? anyway I fixed that by using a magnetic charging cable, I already use one for my WFH headset so I had spares and the cable is already there (you can see the adapter on my picture on the top left) makes it simple to charge when I eventually need to do it instead of messing with micro-usb cables.
Its very expensive, , I got mine when it was reduced to £149 for a short period of time) but I guess they can charge anything they want due to it being the only keyboard that has its features. I'd 100% recommend it if you can stomach the cost.
