Images of items I have purchased (except trainers [no feet pics])

Bought one of these air purifier bois and now want another one for the bedroom! For years I've struggled to get a decent nights sleep due to my former job having oddball hours, so 4-5hrs has been the norm for over a decade. Since I threw this in the bedroom I've overslept for days. Annoyingly it was £144 from the forest, it is on sale now for £127.

Guessing the filters on my PC fans is kind of making them do the exact same thing

Today's purchases

8 Yard skip rental - final for the garden clear, after this it should be completely cleared (yay!)

EM80 tube, 50uf+50uf 500V cap and backlight bulb plus a chassis mount resistor to down convert 245Vac to 220Vac - to spruce up a vintage all tube 1957-59 Phillips H4X73A radio receiver & record player console.
EM tube is the magic eye tube on the front for radio signal strength:

Two 12V SMPS boost converters from china - these provide switchable AC and DC rectified output for tube amp bench testing. The configurable high voltage switched output means over 580Vdc is capable with a doubler. Given the tube amp I'm designing has 640Vdc (-320Vdc to +320Vdc rails), these will make the initial work cheap and easy to adjust then I can worry about getting the 600W of toroidal transformers made.
I've designed my own boost previously but I can't be bothered winding my own or sourcing a reliable SMPS transformer setup - for £10-20 each they'll do.

Thought id get buy a cheap (ish) 2nd hand DSLR to play with. Hardly used with shutter count at 4600

Three sample photos of me playing around with manual settings. This is going to take a while to learn!

Any tips on converting raw (CR2) files to jpeg other than me using online converters?
I installed GIMP and darktable but seems like a lot of effort if you can open the photo in the Windows 10 standard 'photos' app and then just use snipping tool to convert it to PNG!?

Now that's a trip

Kind of got to age where all big monetary things (well pressures) are ticked off.

Missed out on years during covid. No kids. Life's too short to just save all my money endlessly.
I'm fixed mortgage for 5 years. Job is decent. House is decent.

So starting to want to do "experiences". I'm 37 this year. Need to make most of time!

I had a look on muchbetteradventures, that looks and sounds fantastic.
I would say £1300 is reasonable too, but prices rise after adding flights and things like sleeping bags if you dont have things yourself. Tempted by the 11th June date (only one left really) for me and GF but we do already have plans that weekend.
About how and much and where are flights from?

Same I looked at the price and the prices going direct. And thought I'll just do this one through them. 100-300 difference max on going direct and tbh, that's fine.

Yeah flights add a chunk!

Missed out on 2 years of holiday for covid. And 2 saving for a house. And what else is there really to spend money on? I've lost interest in cars. I don't really like fancy food. I'm not one for beach bum holidays. I don't really like going 'out'.

Also. I've got tired of "stuff". Buying physical tat that gives a brief "ooh new toy" feeling then it's gone.

Decided against buying a new pc which would cost the same as this holiday (probably more). Because just not interested in that either

Oh flights. Yeah looking at 500 direct. But 2 hundred of that is from bodo to leknes.
You can ferry and bus from bodo to leknes. Which I'm looking at. Add a day of travel. But save 150 ish.

I got the last place on July one! June was too early

Thanks.
So looking at around 2k each for the week. Quite expensive but very worth it. We'll probably do a beach holiday in August / July / September instead
I'm similar with the stuff, but usually sell it on for the same or profit if I get bored. I luckily got a new PC (main parts) pre Covid so that was a definate plus. We've also managed to get away abroad 5 or 6 times in the past couple of years somehow. We timed it inbetween Covid rules being relaxed

Skiing is the main thing I miss, the last trip away was Lech, Austria in January 2020 - Just before it all kicked off.
General Covid and not going out (night out) has meant i've managed to make regular overpayments on my mortgage and a big chunk of a loan is now paid off. I suppose I could stop the overpayments and for a few months and go on that amazing trip but would probably be 2023 now

Yeah I'm estimating 2k in total. Anything under that will be a bonus.

Just had a quick look.
London to leknes return =500ish
London to bodo return =300 ish +60 for ferry.

But then I have to be concerned with a potentially unpredictable ferry. Might extend the flights a day and have an explore of bodo.

If this trip goes well I want to do the cuba one in Feb 2023

Nice.

Mine was £3 from Sainsburys. What a purchase, living plant that needs water once a month and flowers. I got it to replace my girlfriends dedad plant as she always forgets to water them
Mine only flowers once a year around March / April, was a similar price from Ikea back in 2014. I've got 2 completely inate ones that look different and do sod-all as well. :D

Is this through Much Better Adventures? Have you used them before, I’ve been thinking of giving them a go as they have some good looking trips but keen to hear how they perform. They do get rave reviews.

Yes it is.
First time! I will absolutely report back. Its a bit of a challenge for me this. I can kayak this distance. But every day? For 5 days? Going to be interesting! :D

Looks fab. Im looking at the 2 night Kayak and Wildcamp Norwegian Fjords during our extra long June bank holiday but struggling with the flight times to come home.

Good luck!

I looked at the June date but also niticed its 24 hour daylight in June. That bothers me more than the kayak distance and flight times / if available.
I’ve been informed im going on a (probably expensive) family holiday in the summer anyway so this is out for me.

I think the sun dips below for at most an hour when I'm going. That'll be surreal.
Sleep mask is essential!
