Interested to hear how you get on with this. Especially keen to see how the smartphone app works out. Would love to be able to switch on Zone B and control its volume on my Denon amp with it. Save me having to invest in a new amp to get remote control of Zone B.
I am not sure how it will control different zones, I am also unsure how it sends its signal around as I know the hub has RF, IF and Wifi built in. The question is does it send the signal from the hub to the devices via the network (amp/Bluray/X-Box are all plugged into the network) or does it do it via IR? But the hub is squeezed in between the 1.5 inch gap between the top of the BR player and the shelf under where the TV sits on.
Anyway, in order to control zone B, I guess it has to learn the command for the button Zone B. I know all the buttons are programmable via the app (or the remote), what I haven't tried yet is get a button to mimic a button on the amp or specific to that device. For example the Zone B button or a button to change the settings in the surround sounds between different modes. The app can also have specific assigned buttons, you can rearrange its layout like the homescreen on a phone by dragging it around.
I haven't used it much but things that I like from the brief play so far are:-
Press 1 button it will switch the correct devices on, change the amp to the correct device.
Press 1 button will turn everything off, great at the end of the night.
The remote is RF so no need to point it at anything.
Can always use my phone or iPad if I can't find the remote, which means I will never lose the remote.
I've put all my remotes into the drawer now, except the remote for the Amp (just in case) but things like Apple TV, Bluray player and even the TV remote I wouldn't need it anymore.
Also, I don't have Sky (or even Freeview, I don't have an aerial) but the remote has 4 colour buttons so those that need it will find this useful, I know some Logitech remotes has removed this in some models and put it into the touch screen.
