Serious question.

Do you actually enjoy/really take in what's said in these 'inspiration' books? I can't help but think I wouldn't take them seriously. Don't get me wrong I'm an optimist and always aspiring to improve and hopefully retire by the time I'm 35 by making millions of pounds somehow but I can't see how these books could help all that much.

Some colour changers for my keyboard and a test bench, the Yellow ones don't seem as bright so i'll just use the Orange and Green ones when i decide what layout to have.

It's not really inspirational kind of books, really. Not that I've looked at these in much detail, but I've just finished the Lean Startup and Business Model Generation and they're not there for inspiration, more for tried and tested techniques or processes.

The business model generation was really really good. It uses a really simple "canvas" template which helps you draw out and therefore visualise your business model and where gaps might be, how to prioritise aspects, tasks that are needed etc.

Lean Startup was also good. Things like split testing, vanity metrics vs. actionable metrics, tight feedback loops, when to pivot or push etc. Basically, feedback. Lots of it.

I like process, it's fun.

Reminds me of my old boss who had a bookshelf full of lean/six sigma books in his office. Strangely he rarely used any such buzzwords though and was more of a realist.

I'd imagine the only course available is trial and error ha which can be pretty costly if you do it wrong, so for me it's getting whatever shared information or tips possible. Like anything though, be it; ITIL, Prince2, PMP, SCRUM, Six Sigma{insert any process framework}, it's all exactly that, a framework, and should be used and adapted to fit your specific needs.

I have the dream to give up my day job and work full time on my businesses by the end of the year, which is always daunting especially when I earn well and single breadwinner. So any knowledge I can get, I love to soak it up.

Back on track, I bought a Coke Zero. :D

^Wow, I was recently surfing Amazon for those books too. I bought Blacksand! - just reading the titles gives me waves of nostalgia.
