More electronics stuff, and something else for an electronics item.

The thing on the left is a microcontroller based DDS function generator from China. I expect it to be rather poor when compared with a proper func gen but the cost of the thing was an order of magnitude, or two, less than the normal price of the things. The efective price was free as they already sent me an DDS generator board but it wasn't as pictured so I got this one for free.

The SD card is for my new phone and actually came from OcUK.
 
Certainly is amazing value. Puts the EpsonBrother/HP printers I've had before to shame. As with all inkjets like this though genuine inks cost more than the printer! I paid a shade over £50 for the printer if I remember right. The inks cost closer to £60 for a full XL set.

Suppose I could have just bought a new printer but that's a lot of effort and the printer only comes with a small ink cart set, think they're purposefully bundled with lower than normal ink levels so you buy a set and they make their £££ that way. Sneaky buggers.
 
It is expensive but hey, it's quality, lasts forever (proof here) and it has never clogged up on me. I often don't use it for months, unplug it and put it to the side, when I need it, plug it in and prints first time.

I'd rather have that than have a crap printer that clogs up after a few years.
 
I'm a little late to the party, but everyone heres moaning about pictures of anime yet in the random image thread you've got people posting women topless apart from a small piece of cloth and in the gif thread we've got women bouncing up and down, neither of those are family friends. Stop complaining :rolleyes:

Just people using excuses to hate on those with interests they find weird. Nothing to see here. :rolleyes:

Do you remember the ones with print heads directly attached to the rail mechanism? Once that gets clogged it's bin time! Usually a few weeks after it not being used...
 
Guys, I've stolen my sisters Epson POC which we don't use often so it clogs up :rolleyes: I had to photocopy tons of documents the other day and to double side them I had to make a mark and feed it back through, does this canon one do it automatically? The print from phone and the AirPrint is kinda nice too... £54 isn't THAT bad... I guess you can always give it your ICC (is it that?) profile so you can print photos if you wish (obviously not lab grade) and it'll be calibrated right.
