Haven't a clue about diving, so for the uninitiated are those mouth pieces?
She's caked how expensive they are? How much does a complete scuba outfit cost?

Bye they way, is that a Mitel handset?!

Yep, the regulator (IE mouth piece, what you breathe through) and the stage (the heavy looking lump of metal at the end of the pipe) is what connects to the tank.

Errr a complete scuba outfit can be as little or as expensive as you want it to be. Like I bought my Drysuit second hand for £200 (it was practically brand new) and from new it would have been £2000...

I've spent a fair whack, but I'm addicted! :D

In total I've spent:

Regs - £480
BCD - £190
Wetsuit - £220
Drysuit - £200 (second hand)
Boots - £30 (second hand)
Fins - £25 (they were second hand)
Mask - £60
Undersuit for drysuit - £300 (thats en route to me)
Dry glove kit - £90
2 x Tanks - £240
Dive Computer - £200

God knows how much else in courses and various other bits, my torches cost me £150 for example but can go into the thousands.

To put it in perspective I know someone who has spanked nearly 20 grand A YEAR for about 3-4 years now on upgrading equipment, trips, etc etc.

It's an expensive hobby but a lot of the items you generally buy 'once' and you rarely need to replace it and it gives you unbelievable levels of satisfaction and joy. :)

Out of interest Phate, where do you dive? :)

Any puddle I can get into? :D - There are lots of places in the UK. I've so far only done the Farne Islands and a couple of lakes in the UK but aiming to cross more off the list next year. I'm very limited for time at the moment. But I've booked trips for Iceland and Egypt next year, also Ireland (my sister lives there) and I'm also looking at Malta.

Nice choice, can't go wrong with apeks. All my regs are apeks and have suffered years of abuse without missing a beat!

Indeed, I've got some ATX40's which were my first reg and for my recreational stuff, the XTX's are for Sidemount :)

I went snorkeling in Malta this year Phate, it was absolutely awesome! really incredible. I had never done it before and was amazing at what you could see.

Me and my friend were thinking about trying some diving as we were so impressed. Bit worried about jumping in a lake tho with the dirty water, weeds, rats etc.

Na don't be. You main orificies are blocked off (nose and mouth) and ears are covered by a hood. I've never gotten ill and my immune system is pretty rubbish :)

Malta looks like brilliant diving, its so cheap to go as well! It would be rude not to.

I still need to do a photo for Cosimo :p

Have you fitted those bulbs yet and if so are they worth the money - I see them at 39 quid which seems a lot -

I am pricing up a full set of H1 and H7 - just took light's out of Focus to see how long it took - 2min so best price I can find will buy if you say they are better than OEM

Dave

I got them for £20

For a decent pair of upmarket bulbs you are looking between £15-£25 maybe £30 for a pair (mine are H7 obviously)

If you are paying anymore for Philips Xtreme Vision H7's you are being ripped off.

I got mine from hid-direct

came to £18.00 I think plus £2 postage, ordered yesterday arrived today

Not fitted yet but I have seen nothing but good reviews and will smash your standard bulbs

Good vision and much whiter than standard bulbs which have a yellowish output

I replaced the bulbs in mine with similar and noticed a big improvement. Definitely worth the money :)

HID bulbs are proven to deteriorate over time anyway. So it's worth doing.
