But cheaper, assembled with more care and with nicer dealers.

I'm not taking a pop at the Golf, they're a very nice car. I owned two of the earlier models myself. Aside from a lottery win I couldn't justify spending the extra cash on the VW version now.

Can I add a very nice community, don't even own one yet, yet sit on the briskoda forums lovely place to be :p

Ok same platform

Doesn't matter, the Volkswagen will always have higher standards of equipment and build quality. The interior on the Skodas always look a bit cheaper, and if you're happy to pay the extra for the brand and extra spec on top then whatever. If all you cared about was how the car drove then they would be the 'same' but if that's all you cared about you wouldn't pay an extra premium for adaptive cruise and nicer interior. That's why the Skoda exists, it's just a cheaper not as good equivalent of VW.

Lol @ its the same car.

Most poeple buy a car becuase of its looks and nothing else, certainly not to save 5k becuase its the same car underneath afterall...

Thought the 'rado was a hybrid chassis, something between the mk2/3 golf.

Have you actually driven one?

That particular Octavia, not yet. I've owned a few VWs, now drive a Fabia. It's just as comfortable as any Golf I've owned or spent some significant time in.

Anyway, a seat isn't a major mechanical part. If you've test driven both back to back and the seats don't suit then that's fine. The original point that was being made is dismissing it because "eww it's a Skoda" when it's substantially the same mechanicals is just ignorant.

Pyranha z. One? I'm moving up to Cambridge soon so will also be going to Lee Valley for some boating.

Are there test boats at Lee Valley? (I sold my pyranha karnali)

Nah - the 'Rado is all pretty much A2 with the exception that the VR6 used some A3 suspension and axle stuff. :)

Yeah they have G3s and burns. Your correct on the z.one, I wanted a good all rounder boat. If you want any info on lee valley I'm there every week :)

1. It's a Hatchback.
2. It shares a platform and most of the major mechanical parts with the Golf (and Audi A3, Seat Leon etc).

I guess Skoda snobbery didn't die out 10 years ago.

LOL i have no snobbery towards a Skoda actually, i happen to think they arent that bad cars as it is. Just that they arent my type of car that id spend my hard earned pennies on. Its as simple as that really, nothing to do with being a snob

I wouldn't buy a Skoda either, but they are your 'type' of car as they are exactly the same type of car as a Golf, perhaps a poor choice of excuse :p

I thought the Skoda Rapid I test drove last week was very comfy.

But I have only driven a 108 and a C2. Was definitely on my shortlist as seemed very good value.

G3s are quite old aren't they? How much it cost to rent? Also how much is the course?

Also does it have a pulley to get back to the top of the course and how long is it?

I hear z. One boats are good river play so should help you improve technique!

Cheers.

Really worth £200?

Genuine question, as I'm looking for an AP when we move to go with a pFsense build.

We use the UnFI UAPs at work and they're pretty good, just wondering if that model is worth the wonga.
