It's not that black and white really. For me personally the Q701 gives a different experience which I prefer over the X1 but I prefer the bass detail of the X1 and the much much better construction of the X1.

Still, I'm selling the X1 :p

After like a year of raving the X1 about how it is the best thing since sliced bread you are now selling it ?

I think if LG approached my letterbox, dropped their trousers then proceeded to projectile poo through it they'd be doing me a good deed compared to how they've treated me so far with the monitor issues I've had.

Don't misunderstand, the X1 are really amazing headphones and at £150~ they're very very hard to beat for sound quality and I don't think there's any headphone out up to their normal RRP of around £300 that can beat them for build quality either but the Q701 surprised me with how stuff sounded and at the price of £95 fr Massdrop it was too much of a bargain to pass up. It's got crap build quality compared to the X1 but I can forgive those for the musical qualities :D

Backlight bleed issues as with most other people who bought from the same batch. Mine was from Germany, LG UK said they would repair under warranty then after taking it in said they could not because they can't even source their own parts supposedly and would give me a letter to give to the retailer to either exchange or refund. This was after ages of waiting and chasing. I then found out they'd repaired OcUK's German sourced monitors, same model as Gibbo confirmed it on the forum so in fact they'd lied to me or fobbed me off with the letter excuse.

Anyway, now it's in Germany and the retailer has sent it to LG Germany who are now taking their sweet time when it should not have been sent to them in the first place.

LG Germany are not replying to emails and the retailer is telling me "be patient".

My head + A wall = Soon to be making babies.

Not yet.

Soon I think!

The past 6 months I've spent far too long waiting and hearing the word "soon" :(

Shame, was that the 21:9 model?

How long has this been on-going?

They have a duty of care to repair or replace within 28 days, still a long time but it sounds like this has been going on longer than that?

How long had you had it before it started going funky?

Oh it's been longer than a month if I count in the time it's spent with LG UK but the retailer has had it less than a month and today I've had an email saying it's on its way so I imagine another week or so.

Finally some good news...
