I always thought it was 'breach', as in you insert the round through a breach in the barrel (as opposed to muzzle loading), but it simply means to load at the rear (breech) of the gun.

My Dad's kinks collection is very impressive, he has all kinds of rare releases etc. I imagine his collection is worth a fair amount of money to the right person. Enjoy!
