We got a Contura 850 log burner:

snip

Does anyone else here have a log burner? Finding conflicting information on whether the temp gauge should be placed on the door or the actual flue?

Ignore the wall behind - that's been stripped and prepped for plastering on Mon ;)

I put mine on the bottom of the chimney, although I'm sure I put it on the side before and that worked fine too.

Thanks for all the advice everyone - I'll move the gauge tomorrow morning when it has cooled down. As for keeping the glass clean, well there's three windows on this model and I've been advised a damp cloth with a little ash on it will help clean should it be required. Under normal circumstances the heat alone should be enough to keep it clean!

Stick it on the flue, i also use this to clean the door glass and it works very well.

Also big thanks to Damo in the CS section and his endless Patience for my "is it ready yet?" questions for the past week :p

No haribo though :(

Thanks for that Spook - and thanks again for the beanie hat. :)

I drive a convertible so that hat is getting well used ;)

Also - we got a new kitchen:

Again back wall is to be plastered and tiled (next week) but it's slowly all coming together after what feels like an age of living in a building site. New bathroom has also been installed but I'm guessing no one want to see shots of that :p
