It's not in some nonsense like Gender Studies is it? Because if it is.... :o

32 grand!

You aren't an art major or something equally useless are you?

No, studying a proper subject! Medicine. Hopefully will eventually be in a position to fully pay it all off.

I've tried and failed many times to actually get out of them what I actually owe lol :(

It's all online now! Just log in with your reference number, same username/password as the student loan application site, and it's right there.

I am at/nearly at my half way point. It'll be a £70k debt by the time I've finished.

Is 5.5% standard?
Seems very high, 5% above base for a loan, are they not meant to be in line with inflation for student loans?

jeez. 70k.

I left school at 16 with nowt

I know its probably endless but what should you be earning say 10 years into the job? (if you dont mind me asking)

No worries, my future wages are out there for all to see already!
Doctors get paid rubbish (compared to preconceptions) for the first few years.

In the most junior hospital trainee post (Foundation Year 1) the basic starting salary is £22,636. (Around £30k with max unsociable hours etc). This increases in Foundation Year 2 to £28,076. (Around £42k with max unsociable hours etc).

For a doctor in specialist training the basic starting salary is £30,002.
Doctors in the specialty doctor grade earn a basic salary of between £37,176 and £69,325.
Consultants can earn a basic salary of between £75,249 and £101,451 per year

If the doctor is contracted to work more than 40 hours and/or to work outside 7am-7pm Monday to Friday, they will receive an additional supplement which will normally be between 20% and 50% of basic salary. This supplement is based on the extra hours worked above a 40 hour standard working week and the intensity of the work.

Yeah, interest rates also went up considerably (from 1.5%) the same year. I really shot myself in the foot, especially considering I had a decade out of education before deciding to re-enter!

New wipers for the new car
