The applications for them are indeed endless, and I've seem them used for weddings (high shot of the church for example)
But I'm getting out of the wedding game, so it would be more for fun than anything. I'm actually waiting for an underwater drone for Scuba diving. I'll probably end up getting that.
Out of interest, why are you getting out of the wedding game? I have a friend just about to get into it.
The cover was made out of foam board, really simple. I think you can buy them pretty cheap also.
The new phantom cost about $1299 I think . Then you get add ons like batteries, bag etc.
I'm just so amazed at how rock solid it is in the air. It doesn't move an inch when hovering! It locks on to GPS (about 16 usually) and accounts for wind etc and just makes everything so simple. Has a range of about 1.2-6 miles , also with tail wind got it going to 45mph!!!!
I highly HIGHLY recommend something like this, even just as a toy and some fun!
