Guessing that isn't an Sky-Watcher Stargate 450P Truss-Tube Dobsonian?

Pictures look similar.

Yes its the 450p, not as good as my 22" but similar views on DSO.

Had a few teething problems but the mirror is bang on and whole scope is around 50 Kilos, my other scope is well over 75 kilos and needs a step ladder to look through eyepiece for most objects.

Not convinced on these air tube tents, since putting up my pole tent alongside a friend's air one. It looked a lot more hard work, with all the pumping.

I'd been mulling over whether I should have paid the (quite considerable) extra to go for the air version of mine when I got it last year, but am in no doubt now.

Just had a test in my garden - pegged out and fully erect (oo-er) in 10 mins. Deflated and back in bag in 5 mins.

I've never done it that quick for a comparable size "poled" tent, and I've had a few.

Both mirror are protected with covers when building it, in case of little accidents :D

At the bottom of the scope there's a large black circular cover hiding the mirror, same at the top for the secondary mirror.

May I ask how you go about cleaning the mirrors, given they're totally exposed?

It's a phenomenal-looking thing. Practical sculpture!

The scope has a coat/shroud that protects the mirrors when in use.

You don't clean them, saying that, I have cleaned my 22" mirror once, by using distilled water in a small paddling pool. The 22" mirror weights over 25 kilos so not an easy job, just ran the water back and forth over it gently. In a few months I'm getting the 22" mirror recoated by Orion Optics as its been 10 years.

The 18" mirror on that scope is ribbed and attached to the base so not an easy task to remove.

Thank you for the information.

It's a cracking thing. Enjoy!

A new tool box. My little tool bag was soon becoming inadequate for my hefty and growing collection.
