With regards to the o/s partition, have any of you tried using the Windows7 Image creator, and using that image to restore to a different harddrive, such as a time when you've purchased a bigger drive to replace an existing one?

My question is will the above work due to the restored image getting confused, since the registry and O/S (disk manager) are expecting a differernt drive.

I don't know cos i've never tried.

have any of you?

Basically I need a bigger drive, and i really cannot be bothered to rebuild my system. Looking for any shortcuts.

Hmm... I've had a 0x0000007B error when trying to restore to completely dissimilar hardware, but going to a different hard drive should be okay, as I've done it before using Acronis to clone drives; I couldn't comment on a restore of a Windows Image, but I'd imagine it'd be okay.

You'd think it would be fairly common practise. But going on that there's been no real replies to speak of, or being that google isn't coming up with much, much to my suprise, its not practised much. I'll probably just give it a try and let you know of the outcome.

Just to satsify my own curosity if anything.
