immigrating to the USA

The green card lottery is not open to British residents unfortunately. It is open to Irish residents.
Yeah, like I said the UK has filled their quota. It will open up in a few years time.

My half sister moved to the US (Florida) years ago and has never come back :)
She loves it.

BUT!

She has a great job and makes loads of money, its all work work work, but she loves her work so its fine

A friend of mine recently moved to the Mississippi area (right before he got flooded and lost everything he had just aquired - but thats another story). He was moving to the US to marry his American fiancee and his application took nearly a year to process even though he was also moving there to be a minister of his own church! A whole load of paperwork and checks need to be done. Your eligibility as a person, a worker, a decent american citizen and not a terrorist is studied in depth. Remember, the US is fearful of anything that isn't American really and their national security is apparently at great threat. If you haven't any skills or a great deal of money I'd save that idea for later in life, also, if your last name is "Laden" and your middle name "Bin" I just wouldn't bother, period.

not really looking to move but i was wondering if i ever wanted to my father was born a us citizen (born in ohio), but became a british citizen when he was 20.

Would that help me in anyway but i assume that because he hasn't been a us citizen or lived there for so long it would be no use what so ever?
