Import charges, anyone experienced?

Parcelforce has been like this for importing even before the recession kicked off. It is what it is with most of them. As most say, don't like it? Don't import.

Thank yourself lucky it wasn't like one shop I had to deal with. The rules were you had to pay the courier on delivery. I think that was UPS.

Lol, an action or event regarded as moraly or legally wrong.. Yeh pretty happy with that, especially when parcel farce add thier own 'handling' charge even though shipping has already been paid.

Yeh I've had good dealings with fedex in the past,

Yes you can, you shouldn't give such definite responses when you're clearly not sure.

Done exactly that, although I can't Technicaly pay until the parcel is at a local depot, they've told me the costs as it's cleared from customs now. So once that happens I'll pay over the phone or online rather than wait for a letter, as that will delay the process by about a week by the sounds of it.

Hi all,
I've currenly got a wheelset which is being processed at parcel force coventry - looking at the tracking info (below)it looks like theyve had charges applied, the factory declared value at $220 USD, approx £145.

9/9/2015 5:45 International Hub-Forwarded for UK processing
9/9/2015 0:10 International Hub-Revised charges to be paid
8/9/2015 22:30 International Hub-Awaiting Customs Charging
8/9/2015 22:00 International Hub-Awaiting Customs clearance

Just a couple of questions for anyone who's imported before, as the status says awaiting charging, and then revised charges to be paid, does this mean they've decided the value differs from the delared value?

Also, as the current status is 'Forwarded for UK processing', does this mean the charges are finalised, and the parcel ready do be delivered out of the Coventry cenral hub?

If so can I speed up the process by calling them and paying the charges over the phone, as I've done some googling and it seems that packages can get stuck for days in the absence of a prod in the right direction?

Thanks

I had an R9 290 come back from RMA in China a couple months back which had a declared value of $50 put on it and got charged ~£18

Yep, or you can go down to the depot directly to collect and pay as soon as it's there, providing it's within opening times.
