Spotted a couple of sets of wheels I may be interested in, only problem is they're located in the USA.

Anyone have any experience in importing wheels/heavy items from there? Never really bought anything that expensive (£1500) from abroad and was wondering the best was of going about paying and shipping them here.

Thanks :)

Very cool, but you might get similar in europe and it may not cost as much to ship them.

shipping + import duties + VAT.

If £1500 is the price in the US, i would expect shipping to be £200+ at a guess. then import duty is 10% on top of that roughly.

so £1500 +£200 delivery = £1700. import duty of £170. from memory they charge VAT after charging all these so thats VAT on £1870 - so thats £2150ish for the £1500 wheels. :(

Hmmm I thought they'd be much more in the EU, however looking on German Bay it seems not!

Edit: Scrap that price is per wheel!

What car are they going on?

Are they BBS LM's? To be honest there is no way I would be putting a set of £2-3k wheels on anything thats not super special. The BBS replicas that are going about at the moment are of a good quality, and can be had for approx £600!

BBS RS-GT

I would rather walk than put replica wheels on my car.

I'd rather have 2k in my pocket, to spend on drink and women (or some performance mods if thats your thing), and no-one would be any the wiser.

Wheels can improive the performence and handling on cars, just depends if ytou get the specs right or not.

Lighter is always better though:)
