Impreza for £4k?

Going to spend all day in work car shopping, will go and buy something in the next few days.

I've got it down to a shortlist, no idea what to get.

Another EP3 (try my luck getting a newer one with less miles or one with good mods).
ATR (had one before, have a soft spot for them).
Another DC2.
Scoob.
Evo V if I can find one.
E46 330ci
E39 330i

Not sure what else is worth looking for? Just want something practical and quick really. I say practical, I'd also consider an S2000.

Worst spec me ever? Probably.

Own blobeye wrx (MY05) with a prodrive performance pack, P1 alloys springs etc...

Yes, its not set your pants on fire quick...but still a bit of fun as and when required :-)

Like Evo said, quick enough but still practical for daily use...

insurance wise....shop around, i managed to get a half decent renewal from green light (2nd year of ownership)....

Might not bother with a Scoob, insurance is over twice as much as an EP3. Might see if I can get a facelift EP3...

This looks a nice one:

I'd say that was good value as long as it's been looked after. Myself I'm after switching from an EP3 to a lovely modded Grey Scooby Type-R (Classic shape), just keeping my eye out for the right one :)

Sure i read earlier that you want a 5 series? Now back to a scoob?

Also aint that a spoiler from one of those uk 300 scoobies? Proper STI spoiler is nicer and more scoobie like.

say CTR/STI/E39 are 3 complete different cars lol.

Guessing your after pretty much anything what is just fast? What about most fun? Scoobie or hot hatch will win on fun. fast and comfy the E39 will win???

Just surprise us, as i am guessing you'll not listen to anybody and get something totally random lol.

My only issue is I really don't like the look of the ones that are pre 2003, and post 2003 are slipping out of budget.

I might just buy a 2 grand Accord Type R and treat myself to a Mac Air and put some money to the side for Christmas.

a Mac Air

Have you driven an Impreza yet?

I honestly couldn't see myself choosing a computer over an Impreza :)

£4K is unlikely to get you a newage STI worth buying. Decent well looked after WRX around 03 would probably be in budget.

OR

Classic STI - will cost more to insure and needs looking after a bit more than a UK car.

If you want my advice regarding classic buying - get an Type RA. You won't pay extra for only have 2 doors, it will have the same turbo as the STI of that year and will also have the low ratio gearbox is very quick to about 120. Its a WRX so you may not have to pay the same for insurance. You won't get the adjustable diff of an STI RA but you will get ABS which is going to be of far more use in the UK than some trick diff.

I had an MY00 Type RA WRC Limited (bit like the above but V5 have black surround around the dials and V6 have blue like the bodyshell) they have the absolutely stunning blue RA seats - I had these in the RA and in my UK car. I found the gearing too low sadly and didn't keep it very long.

This is stunning IMO. Exactly what I'd be after.

Insurance quote looks cheap lol, chepaer than my Civic, mods declared too. Waiting on the seller getting back to me. My neigbours will love me if that's as loud as I think it will be!

What do you Scoob experts thing of the price and work done on the engine? I'd probably turn the boost down.
