Hey,

Going to look at an X plate Subaru Impreza 2.0 WRX with my bro tomorrow, its him looking to buy.

It has 64k on the clock and is up for 5495.

Thats as much as i know, so is there owt to be watching out for on these? Does the price seem about right?

He is planning on chopping in his 54k mile 04 plate Focus 1.6 against it.

Cheers for yer time.

Rik

Seems expensive, can almost get a blob eye wrx for that money.

At an x reg it'll be a classic, which if it's a wrx will be an import.

I assume this is an import, sorry but I wouldn't be putting my money into a 9 yr old Impreza import

and that is from someone who has owned 2 imprezas

many are knackered, been thrashed by chavs, not run on correct fuel, dodgy mods etc

prob not all of them but a large proportion, at this age I would only touch an unmolested UK car

Hmm. What about one that was recently imported?

I've seen a few recent import classic WRX's on the bay before no owners in the UK as of yet. Would one of these not be safe to buy?

Not trying to pick holes, genuinely interested :)

I assume that is a forecourt price? It's certainly £2k too high for a orivate sale, and probably too high for a forecourt as well. And get a newage, because they're better built.

slightly off topic - but how could Subaru ruin the Imprezza , it was such a lovely car in the mid 90's to early 0x's but now it just looks like a super mini:eek: (well if there was a face showing being sick I would have used it!!!)

I fell in love with Sub's from McRea rallying them around the world in 95, but now they are just a joke

This. (owner of 3)

Imports are not designed to run on UK fuel (95/97RON), as in Japan they run 100RON fuel. This is a big issue with a high compression turbocharged engine made out of aluminium, so unless you're budgeting for an ECU re-map and/or eventual re-build of the engine - steer clear.

I had 2 imports and both were re-mapped the moment they landed, so I had no issues at all with them. But a lot of people buying imports just drive them as they receive them, then cry if/when the engine dets itself to pieces and melts.

A UK one should be fine though, as long as it's been serviced and not abused. :)

right well...

first off, thanks for all the advice..bro phoned the guy and it was an import so we duly about turned.

Next stop for him is a '99 T Integra Type R with 100k on the clock...
