Improved fuel economy following Terraclean engine treatment!

Frequently getting a 400mile+ range now on one tank which is about a 30mile improvement to previously.

Did another London <M4> Bristol run yesterday and as with the London <M1> Nottingham run, I'm again getting a rock solid 50mpg with cruise set to 60mph from fixed junction to fixed junction. And this a 195bhp petrol.

And you used to make a big deal of my consumption claims?! At least I never claimed 50mpg :p

I claim 50MPG... 54 mile round trip to work, most journey @ 55MPH (60MPH road behind HGV). :D

*admittedly not that impressive as it is a 3L Diesel, but barely run in yet*

I'm currently getting 14mpg out of my J reg 535 which is extremely close to the 11mpg I get from my 5ltr M5, perhaps this process would benefit a car of that age?

Interestingly, even a slight incline drops the economy by 2-3 mpg.

The entire route from West London to Bristol is almost entirely up a gentle incline apart from the odd undulation. So you're actually going uphill slightly throughout the entire journey. On the way up at a fixed 60mph cruise, its 47/48mpg. Opposite is true on the return journey - you're going downhill and economy creeps up to 51/52mpg.

Interestingly tracking multiple journeys on Google MyTracks shows the incline difference in the route to and from London.

Have to say that I've never regularly cracked 50mpg before so this is pleasing.

I managed to get 33mpg from my Legnum VR-4 on 4 consecutive full tanks of fuel - simply because I wanted to get better fuel consumption.

I've not got that much since - my best since has been about 28mpg.

My point is that just by simply slightly changing how you drive, you can make a difference to your fuel consumption - now that you've had this "treatment", you are wanting to find improvements in your fuel consumption, and therefore, you have.

I'd rather use the £130 to fund a bike and then save a fortune by cycling to work rather than sitting in nose to tail traffic for 30min each day.I realise that this isn't a option for you doing much bigger mileage but thats how I would spend my money.

That said, on a fairly new car like yours I can't see this making the difference that you are claiming, I think that there are a lot more factors than just the engine internals resulting in your improved economy.

The banter does amuse me... :D

The mpg is interesting though, because it's verifiable data. I'm as cynical as anyone but even the trolls (who haven't even tried this) can't argue with a trip computer and fuel log averages over exactly the same route on multiple occasions.

My tank to tank economy varies from about 29 to 36mpg over exactly the same route depending on my driving style and road conditions. Obviously someone must be Terracleaning my engine occasionally when I'm not looking.

Mine too, can swing from anywhere around 26mpg to 34/35. I think Terraclean are coming in and dirtying up my engine then running the treatment through again every couple of weeks

I have the same. I thank Terraclean for being so generous.

Without them I would have poor MPG and high bills.

If your average mpg is swinging around so wildly when you're doing set junction to junction run and have got the cruise fixed to 60mph, there something's seriously faulty with your engine.

Best you get down to the garage quick as your engine's on the blink!

Why would someone be Terracleaning your engine, when you state that your change in fuel consumption depends on your "driving style and road conditions"?
