is there any way for me to improve performance for my nvidia 6800? i say this because i can't play cod 4 at 1280x1024, i have to play @ 1024x768 instead. I have overclocked it from 325/600 to 390/700 and it idles around 56c
 
I doubt your going to get anymore performance. I've never had a dell, but isn't it possible to change the the card? You can get pretty cheap cards now which would offer a serious boost from over 6800.
 
Get a 1950pro off the bay if you can scrape the money together. Some going for under £30 delivered. The card isn't longer than a 6800 I don't think.

Radeon HD4850 and HD3850 are about 23.5 cm long. 6800 is about 21.5. You might squeeze one of those in and it would give a decent boost.

9500GT or 8600GTS would definitely fit (Edit: a boost but not so big).

Edit: 8800GT, 8800GTS 512MB, 9800GT, 9600GT are all 23CM. You need to plug a 6 pin PCI-E connector into the end though so don't forget to account for it.
