Impulse buy

There is a dynamic button under the pulse one, when you go around sharp bends the seats side bolsters inflate to support you, very cool. It's standard on the AMG but options on all others.

Nope, doesnt have that. Cant see how it could possibly be needed in a limo car tbh but sounds cool :D

Nice car Jez. Excellent choice+bargain to boot.
I think this might be with you for a while.

I know you have a bit of a thing for S's, it is indeed a very nice car. Whether i will keep it for too long is questionable, what will ultimately cause the sale of it will be the fact that i dont want to kill its value with all my miles. I would imagine my company will start to complain soon about my fuel card bills too. Its only doing 20mpg! Can get that better on the motorway but still, the leon did about 40.

In that case enjoy it and cross it off your "To own" list. I walked away at the last minute from an S recently but i'll have to own one at some point.
BTW @ Fox/You/Gurdas, a friend of mine has an E63. What do you lot make of them?

I love them. Infact, I love them so much that I'd probably pick one over an E60 M5 but would be absolutely unable to explain why, and would concede in every pub arguement that the M5 is the better car by far.

Similar performance/spec etc?

I havnt driven either, but without even doing so i can confidently say that the mercedes will feel like a big floaty barge. No matter how much AMG do to it, and no matter how much power it has, its a mercedes, its not a sports car.

I'd have one over the BMW anyway, because i love mercedes and think they are the better cars, but it wont be anything like as good to drive as the BMW (which i also love)

I'm not so sure. I LOVED the SL55. It felt pretty good to me although there's not much in the BMW range to compare it to is there?

No, BMW don't do a proper SL rival. They would like to think they do, and that it is called the 6 Series, but it doesn't touch it. Sure, it's a better drivers tool but that isn't the point in the SL. And the SL simply has to be one of the most beautiful looking cars of its type around. You can park it anywhere and it wouldnt look out of place. Even outside a very expensive hotel in Monaco usually frequented by Ferraris.

e500 is a good depreciator
new - 45ishk

3-4 years later they are worth around 13k.

0-60 in under 6s, 155mph etc etc.

Just find a decent specialist, they should just charge normal rates, and you can get parts from other places then your merc dealer.
Same with BMW

If only car ownership was as simple and cheap as jamoor thinks it is! E500's on 54 plates for £13k and indys who can fit complex problems on S Class's and only charge a few pennies.

That's what would worry me about a car like this - expensive repairs!

Without trying to sound off, its an 8 grand car. Not exactly enough to get worried about. If something big breaks, i will either get it fixed or sell it broken for a loss :)

Good way to look at things. Given the value of the car and the potential cost of something nasty going wrong, selling it on with a fault and thereby losing a few quid makes sense.
