I started a thread here about my computer developing a serious fault and the cliff notes are that after about 40 minutes or so my PC locks up (although the cursor can still be moved) regardless of what was being done. Even if the computer was idle it will still eventually lock up and temps are good so its not a case of overheating.

I need to try and find out what's going on and so i was wondering if there is a way to test my SSD boot drive to see if its the culprit?

I dont have any backup RAM or PSU or anything like that so i cant simply swap stuff out to test.

This is my only computer so im kinda freaking out a bit.

Thanks

Run scandisk and look for errors? - Or is that a stupid suggestion because an SSD drive isn't like a "normal" hard drive?

Ive read the original post :0

You have not mentioned the temps on the GPU?

have you overclocked it?

Has it been cleaned out recently?

Have you checked that all the power and data connectors and plugged in correctly?

TBO I would start out with a minimal install 1HDD - No optical drive
1 ram stick - only a mouse and keyboard attached and NO overclock on any component

boot up check the CPU/GPU temps

then run a cpu bench test - watch the temps (use Ciore Temp),
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Benchmarks/IntelBurnTest.shtml

if thats ok then run a gpu bench (GPUZ) and watch the temps

followed by memtest for the memory
