In game graphics card tempreture?

would i be right in saying that there isnt any ventilation at all on the back of that case?

from the looks of the first pic, the only place for a fan would be on the base of the case, where the ventilation holes are

the only ventilation on the back is the round hole where the PSU blow air out mate. How do i fit a fan where you suggested? and whats a good one to go with?

cheers people

Liam

Instead of spending money on fans I'd look into getting a new case. Even a cheap generic one is going to have a better layout and ventilation. I'd have a look at the Super Lanboy (4th one down) its a bargin price and comes with 2 120mm fans installed. Be quick though, not many left.

Also is it easy to take things out of the old case i.e motherboard etc i never done it before

The blower would be better than what you have but still very poor.
To swap cases is fairly straight forward. For the first time just take notes and pics of the connections and how it all goes togeather. If you still run into a problem just ask on here and someone will be more than willing to help.

cheers mate you have been a great help to me last thing is the motherboard screwed to the case and does it come out easy? Do i have to take anything off the motherboard?

many thanks again!

Hi mate.
I have dropped onto your thread a bit late but here goes anyway. Advice already given is sound i just want to throw my 10cents in.

Firstly my instant fix would be to drop your sound card to the lowest slot giving more room between the GFX card and Sound card.
Then i would remount your HD so it runs in the same direction that your GFX card does.
Then i would drill out the front of the case where you have just created space.
I cannot see the feet so i will just say Enlarge them so there is a good gap between the surface it sits on and the case itself. This will bring into effect the vent in the base.
Then i would get that abortion of a CPU cooler off and sling it and fit a recommended cooler something like a Zalman.
When the CPU cooler trumpet thingy is off and out the way then i would cut a 120 slot in the rear for the exhaust fan.
Then i would fit the 120fan in the hole i had made then fit the new cooler.
In the front you will probably be able to fit to 80's in the holes you made since moving the HD so do it. If not two one at least.
Then cable tie all those wires up and out the way of airflow and fire her up.
Air will be sucked in through the front and exhausted out the rear the perfect cooling solution for air.
That's the skintsville route, fun and proper DIY modding.

Personally i would get my 30quid out jump into the case section here and pick up a Antec Super LANBOY Aluminum Super Mini Tower Case - No PSU (CA-012-AN)

I have a similar one sitting on my stereo next to me.
They are really poor in my experience and after i tried it i pulled it straight out. Where you actually mount them is between the GFX card and the sound card so that the grill lines up with an aperture. Why they are called CPU i don't know. I suppose they must draw a little air from the case but not enouth in my opinion.

You need a specific cooler for your CPU and one that doesn't hinder airflow but promotes it.
Really it depends what route you are going to take the self mod or the new case. S'pose that depends on cash. Odviously the mod way will work and be effective but it will look like a chopped box.
30 quid for that case i mentioned is peanuts and it looks good as well as giving good airflow.
As far as swapping then this can be daunting first time round but it's one of those things that once done you cannot believe how easy it is.
Your mobo manual will walk you through it and it's pretty much like building mechano with leads and plugs thrown in.
I do a massive google and read up before such jobs and copy paste and save pics like its going out of fashion, do the same.
Also i have a couple of mates i can ring if everything is dead or i have a prob.
Do you have another system to stay online with whilst you do the swap, if not is there anyone who will lend you a laptop. Getting on these boards whilst doing a build helps more than anything.

Good luck and lets us know your route and results.

The DIY option is the cheapest but would probably end up harder to do than swapping over to a new case. Compare this pic of the inside of a Super Lanboy to yours
DSCF0705555.jpg

As you can see, 1 nice 120mm fan at the back sucking all the hot air out and where the blue glow is in the bottom is the intake fan blowing cool air into the case. You can see for yourself how much better this design is compared to yours and the difference would be huge. This would be my route to sorting the problem.

A good example, cheers for posting.
Nice lay out the only thing i query is the PSU location. I would have it tucked right back with vent holes in my case exhausting the PSU heat and also moving it further away from your chip.
You could also drop your sound card to a lower slot increasing the air gap between GFX card and soundcard then stick a little grill in the vacant slot where the SC was.
Looks lovely though really clean and drafty.

Think i will go for the new case looks good i have a AGP board and an ATX PSU system will if fit all right into this new case, any chance of some advice on swapping it all over as im really worried about doing it

cheers

All of your gear will fit into a new case no problems. For swapping it all over take pics and notes for where all the cables and leads plug in then your ready to just unplug everything and swap away. Just do bits at a time, like cd drive - unplug from old, remove and install in new, and so on. You shouldn't have any problems and its a great way to learn.

P.S. the pic of that lanboy is not mine just found it on the net to give you an idea of how much better the layout is.

Make no mistake, the Lanboy is a great case, but I think the OP would be better off with a new PSU as well.

In this situation, I'd recommend:

Antec NSK4400 Mini Tower Case - 380W SmartPower PSU (CA-052-AN)

Great little case, just bought and built into one with a PenD 805 and it runs very nicely. The PSU is very good depsite being rated at only 380Watt - 24pin ATX 4pin 12v connector, SATA power connectors, 16A dual 12v rails - very impressed.

The attention to detail is also good - rubber sound proofing on the HD, side vent for the CPU, rear 120mm Tri-Cool fan and space for a 80mm fan at the front.

For any low/medium use computer, this is the case/psu combo I'd go for.

Price:
£46.94 Including VAT - Cant beat that for quality at the low end.

Very good point, and worth a thought. Just depends on cash at the end of the day. The psu isn't causing any probs at the moment but the case is, so its either go the hole hog and future proof a bit by getting both or solve the actual problem by replacing the case only.

cheers guys you the best my PSU is a ATX 400 watt which i feel is good enough for me so i think i'll go for the new case for now you put me on the spot and now i dont no which case to choose out the 2 you have suggested. Im going to give it a go the only thing im worried about is removing the motherboard!

cheers

Liam

Going to go for the Antec Super LANBOY Aluminum Super Mini Tower Case - No PSU (CA-012-AN) i think as its a bit cheaper and i already have a good psu and the other you suggested came with a psu which i dont really need what do you think guys

Purely based on the case, you cant go wrong with the lanboy at all.

Get it.

If your PSU fails/deson't measure later down the line, you can always get a new one.

You won't be dissapointed by the LanBoy, I just thought you might need a PSU to throw in and that Antec is a very nice case on a budget.
