Looking to get a whole new system, i dont do any programming/designing, just play games so dont feel i need quad core.
Came up with this, what would people recommend changing? Id like to stay below £1100

I know i could get an I7 build for below my budget, but is it worth it just for playing games?

get 64 bit vista for starters, else you wont be able to utilise all the available memory
Its your call, if you went i7 you'd prob have to drop the SSD to stay in budget, I think both setups have equal merits

Not a bad system but with a £1100 budget I'd be looking to squeeze I7 in there.

Ways of saving the cash to afford it would be to ditch the SSD, maybe a cheaper case and CPU cooler, and possibly consider dropping the OS and using either Windows 7 beta or if you are a student, you can get a free copy of Windows Server 2008.

Then again, there's arguably a case to suggest that having a SSD would give more performance gain than i7 when it comes to general usage.

Gaming or not the i7 is worth it for that budget, the SSD is not.

I built my 1st pc a couple of months back, an i7 and although not a techie the speed is astonishing, it never fails to impress.

An E8*** dual core is the ideal gaming choice but i7 can handle anything i ask of it and looking ahead, to me it's a no brainer

What mobo and ram would people recommend? then with whatever is left ill spend on the case.
This is what ive currently picked for an I7 spec

Don't just get a single 1TB drive, get a fast 320GB or 500GB drive for the windows and games installations, and keep the 1TB seperate for data storage.

that puts me upto £779, 300 left for case, ram & mobo.

How would i go about installing windows 7 onto the new system? Just download it onto disc?

Just to check, how do i go about installing windows 7 onto the new system? Can i just download it onto disc with my current computer and then just boot it from disc on the new spec?
