I don't know whether to grab a celeron or wait and see if it comes in stock next week.

Celly's £30. If you order now you'll have it tomorow, and it can tide you over until next week.

Also if you're doing a fresh build, gettin gthe Celly in there means you can get all the formatting, installing and stuff done now, and all you have to do is slot the Conroe in next week, and it'll just go, once you fiddle about in BIOS for 2-3 mins.

Finally....if you bake the Conroe while overclocking it, and need to replace it, then you'll always have the Celly there to use until you can get a new Conroe.

You'd only need to swap the CPU's, there'd be no need to reformat.

No not generally for a CPU. Normally WinXP only throws a wobbly if you drastically change motherboard chipset.

no, best bargain from intel was the 805d for under 80 quid inc vat.

I had a look around and that's what I eventually thought so I ordered it . It'll do me until the end of August or whenever E6600's come into decent supply.
