Well my E6600 finally blew up and in need of a new cpu.

My current spec is -

Abit Fatal1ty F-I90HD ATI Micro ATX (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC)

Radeon x1950xt 256mb

Definately want a c2d just deciding which :(

I don't really want to overclock it as i would probably break something so any suggestions will be nice.

Only game i play is CS:S with a fps config and on 800x600 and yet for some reason i used to get the random 50fps.

What's your current CPU? Your best bet would probably be the Q6600 OEM that's on sale this week. If you value a higher clock speed at the expense of more cores you could get an E6750.

However, at that resolution with an X1950 XT and any Core CPU I'd expect to get a heck of a lot more than 50 fps.

u say u dont want to overclock but the E21** series are brilliant clockers to around 3ghz

depending on ** moo ofc.... look into it

nearly everyone i;ve heard of owning one infact

performance wise there isnt any difference thats is really noticeable in games :)

plus there like £50 :)

look into overclocking as an option ;)

Well i don't really think i'd get much from a q6600 as i only play source so not really sure.

with the computer being in a lan box i wouldn't really want to overclock due to heat and general not knowing what to do.
