Incessant attention seekers

I come across these people quite a bit although not here oddly enough (unless I just don't notice it).

People who use every little thing which happens to them as an excuse to look for attention. People who refuse to see silver linings in anything and think that the world is out to get them, in any way, shape or form.

People who throw their little pity-traps out and when they catch someone, they pretend they don't need help or alienate them.

Is this depression? I know of a few, who I've known for years and it's always the same story - feel sorry for me mentality. These guys won't just post something and go "in the ****, not doing well at the moment" and rely on others for support, but rather drop subtle little hints in any way possible.

What's the deal with this? Depression? Attention seeking?

I just don't understand it. I know of people who have been through things that would tear these people to shreds but they just soldier on and get on with it. Are these others weak? What is it?

//Not trying to belittle people with actual issues, I feel I should point that out, rather just looking for more of an understanding because I tend to come across as a bit harsh towards them at times.

I tend to find such people come along when they have experienced little success in life. They then wish to try and gather up the attention they've missed in previous years.

But I imagine there are a thousand different reasons for it.

I had one of these the other day...

'funeral is next week'

' oh? Sorry to here that, is everything sorted? How're you coping?'

' I don't want to talk about it'

THEN WHY MENTION IT!!!!

Haha, yes, or the similar:

Them: *make it really obvious that something is bothering them*

You: "what's up?"

Them: "Nothing"

You: "ok" *carry on with your day*

... 4 hours later ...

Them: you're so ****ing insensitive! I've been upset all day and you don't give a ****!!

Haha I completely get what you're on about, Diddums. I unfriended/unfollowed so many people on FB because of this.

But I don't want to talk about it. :p

That's not attention seeking, that's being female.

I work next to one.

Near enough every day I have to listen to him shouting out the words to songs on the radio, adverts included. He also has a name, and a bunch of sayings about several other of my co workers that be bleets out every time they walk past him, a couple of which are violent shouts.

It's worse when one of them is down my end of the workshop for the day, it's constant all day, basically listening to whatever is going through his head out loud.

Really frustrating at times when you're trying to concentrate on what your doing. Sadly the shop foreman laughs with him and goes with it, so nothing ever gets said:(

Does he leave his drinks or food unattended?

Yup we've got one of those, has to be talking/making noise all the time even if he's sitting on his own suddenly blurts out song lyrics at the top of his voice. Also if he thinks up a new joke has to tell it to every single person who comes past:mad:
